My Inspiration
Sharing stories from our own experience is a powerful way to affirm our unique identity while building community with those who hear our stories. An exchange of ideas, experience, and trust occurs each time we tell or hear a story...
.......reflect on what inspired you to do this particular service work. What was your inspiration?
So What?
How do you define social justice?
Social justice...is both a process and a goal. The goal of social justice...is full and equal participation of all groups in a society that is mutually shaped to meet their needs. Social justice includes a vision of society in which individuals are both self-determining, and interdependent. Social justice involves social actors who have a sense of their own agency as well as a sense of social responsibility toward and with others and the society as a whole.
Discussion Questions
.......What are the components of social justice?
.......Which components do we guarantee as a society? Which ones do we neglect?
.......Do the community members you've worked with experience "a sense of their own agency?"
.......How do you see your service contributing to this goal? How does the agency contribute to this goal?
